Art classes: creativity on the stoep

One of the quieter gems of life at St Peter’s is what happens on the stoep of the Old Rectory three mornings a week.

Peter Parrish, our resident artist and caretaker, opens up his studio space on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings from 9am to midday for adult art classes. In the afternoons, from 2pm to 5pm, he opens the same space to children and young people.

Peter has been part of St Peter’s for many years and his artwork is genuinely extraordinary — he is regularly commissioned to paint for people in and around Tzaneen. But what makes the classes special is not just the quality of the teaching. It is the atmosphere. The stoep is a relaxed, unhurried space where you can discover something about your own creativity, meet like-minded people, and enjoy the grounds of one of Tzaneen’s most beautiful church properties.

Whether you are a complete beginner or someone who has always wanted to get back to making something with your hands, you are welcome.
